X Factor’s Lucie Jones Eurovision hope is just to not finish last

X Factor’s Lucie Jones has revealed her hope of Eurovision success is just to not finish last.

Lucie was chosen back in January to represent the UK at Eurovision in 2017 with the contest’s final this Saturday night.

The former X Factor finalist – who was knocked out by Jedward in the 2009 series of the singing show – said this week: “I just don’t want to come last, really.

“If we get no points I’ll be disappointed, but anything else is going to be a win.”

She told The Daily Telegraph: “All I’ve got to do is not go on and fall flat on my face, and hit a bum note.”

Despite recent disasters at Eurovision, current odds suggest the UK could do well this year with Lucie and her track Never Give Up on You now one of the favourites to win.

At the time of writing she’s fifth in the rankings, although it’s not something Lucie is paying attention to.

“You’ve just got to do what you’ve prepped and do it to the best of your ability,” she said. “Everything else is kind of out of your hands. You’ve got to do what you do very well, I suppose.”

Lucie continued: “I mean, people have their ideas about things, but it’s Eurovision. It’s public vote and it’s jury and we have no idea how it’s going to go. It could go any way.

“There’s always favourites and the favourite doesn’t usually win. Anything could happen, really anything could happen, and that’s the beauty of it.”

Eurovision 2017 airs this Saturday night at 8PM on BBC One.
