BGT’s the most viewed show of 2017 so far

Britain’s Got Talent 2017 has become the most viewed show of the year to date.

The new series has become the most watched programme of 2017 so far, based on overnight figures, thanks to bumper Saturday night ratings.

An average overnight audience of 9.2 million – including HD and +1 – previously tuned in to the second audition episode of the 11th series to set the record.

However, this was beaten by last Saturday’s latest show which had 9.4 million viewers and a peak of more than 10.8 million.

It means that BGT has eclipsed all other shows to air so far this year, beating the previous leader Call The Midwife which hit a high of 9.1 million viewers on BBC One back in February.

Meanwhile, based on catch up numbers, Britain’s Got Talent this year has so far averaged 11 million viewers across its first three episodes, down just over a million viewers on 2016 up to the same point.

On average, more than 2.2 million viewers have been watching in the seven days after the episode airs, although this number doesn’t take into account online viewers.

Away from BGT, the big TV ratings this year have so far been dominated by dramas including Broadchurch, Sherlock and The Moorside, and Death in Paradise.

Britain’s Got Talent is back next Saturday night at 8PM with the latest round of auditions.
