Dancing On Ice returns to ITV tonight but how do the live shows work? Here’s all you need to know!
After four long years, Dancing On Ice makes a return to UK TV this evening.
Legendary skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will be reunited with original hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the show that sees celebrity skaters take to the ice in a bid to dance and dazzle their way to glory.
Over the first weekends, the 12 contestants on the line up will be split in two.
Six contestants will kick off tonight’s opening live show, each dancing a debut routine together with their professional partners.
At the end of each routine the judges – Torvill, Dean, Jason Gardiner and Ashley Banjo – will give their marks and comments before viewers can vote for their favourite.
The judges scores will then be combined with the viewer’s votes, the bottom couple will be revealed. They’ll face the first skate off of the series, the following week.
They’ll be against whichever couple finishes bottom in Sunday’s show, meaning no one will leave tonight.
The judging panel will choose who to save and who to send home. Each week Torvill and Dean will alternate the role of Head Judge. In the event of a tie, it’ll be down to them to decide who leaves the competition.
