Kem Cetinay and Max Evans’ partner Ale Izquierdo both recovered from injuries to achieve their highest scores yet on Dancing On Ice 2018 tonight.
Viewers got to see the full story of Ale’s injury during the latest live show, after she slipped while practising a lift with Max just yesterday afternoon.
The figure skating champion “banged her head quite badly” on the ice, and was taken to hospital, where she was advised to spend 24 hours resting at home.
“It’s really upsetting, we were having such a laugh,” Max said. “Now after this injury, I don’t know where this leaves us for Sunday.
Reports suggested it would be ‘touch and go’ whether Ale would be able to participate tonight, but she eventually did take to the ice with Max, and they scored 22.5 – 3.5 points higher than last week.
“It’s so scary, this is why I was worried about coming in to the competition,” Max reacted. “I’ve never hurt a girl before physically like that, it really knocked my confidence.”
Ashley Banjo praised Ale, saying: “You are one tough cookie, to take that hit and get back on here, I’m so impressed.”
Meanwhile, Kem had been pictured this week in bandages, with his spokesperson confirming to the Metro that he’d cut his leg during training.
The Love Island star and his partner, Alex Murphy, also had their own, albeit less serious, fall during yesterday’s studio rehearsals.
The duo performed a romantic routine to Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’, and it won rave reviews from the Ice Panel, scoring 27.5 – the joint-highest score of the night.
“We all love you in the fast, funny numbers, but I thought you turned it up a notch tonight,” said Christopher Dean.
“You did a lot more difficult lifts this week, and you had one that had two rotations, so that’s great,” added Jayne Torvill.
One more couple will be eliminated from the competition following the Skate-off later in tonight’s show.
Dancing On Ice 2018 airs on Sundays on ITV.
